Datsun is working aggressively on its upcoming crossover named as Datsun GO Cross. Read on to learn everything we know about this car so far.
Nissan’s low-cost brand Datsun isn’t going to give up very soon in the Indian automobile market. The brand which currently sells Datsun GO, Datsun GO+ and Datsun redi-GO is reported to be working aggressively on its upcoming crossover named as Datsun GO Cross. This would be a flagship offering by Datsun India which aims to boost Datsun’s brand reputation, road presence and profits in the Indian market.
Datsun GO Cross – First Unveiling & Launch Date
The Datsun GO Cross was first unveiled in Tokyo in 2015, and later it made its presence in Delhi Auto Expo in 2016. Ever since its first preview, this crossover received overwhelming response which motivated Datsun to send this car in the production line. And if things go according to Datsun, this crossover may be officially launched by this year-end or beginning of 2018.
Datsun GO Cross – Is it an alternate to Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza?
If the reports are believed to be true, Datsun India may launch the Datsun GO Cross below Rs.7 Lakh (Ex-Showroom) price mark for its base variant. With an attractive price tag below Rs.7 lakh, the Datsun GO Cross will offer a direct competition to the highly successful and best-selling Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, which is currently available for Rs.7.23 lakhs (Ex-Showroom) for its base variant.
Another interesting fact is that Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is available with only Diesel engine option. Whereas, Datsun may also launch petrol variant of its upcoming crossover with an aggressive price tag. Datsun GO Cross is going to have an advantage with both diesel and petrol engines available as an option.
However, it is the brand reputation, trust factor, service network, road presence and India’s unconditional love towards Maruti Suzuki, which may hurt Datsun GO Cross. This is where, people will blindly choose Vitara Brezza over the upcoming Datsun crossover.
Datsun GO Cross Exteriors
On the exterior, Datsun GO Cross is going to ditch the boxy and bulgy design which is seen on other Datsun cars. The Datsun GO Cross is going to have a high ground clearance to ensure no hassle with light off-roading. It would sport a hexagonal front grille, newly designed LED headlamps, fog lamps, large alloy wheels, roof mounted spoiler, roof rails, skid plates on front, side and rear.
Don’t be surprised if the top-end variant gets LED DRLs and dual-tone color options. Following the latest trend, the top-end variant may be available with black painted roof and attractive theme designs as well.
Datsun GO Cross Interiors & Safety Features
The sportiness is expected on the interiors as well. We can expect a touch-screen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, which is very common in the crossover segment. For safety, the Datsun GO Cross can have ABS and dual-airbags as standard safety features.
